The Rutgerson Escape Hatch is the only certified multihull escape hatch on the market with a flush design, made to be installed on each hull of a catamaran or trimaran to provide a safe and reliable escape in case of capsizing. The unique flush design gives minimal resistance, reduces the pressure on the hatch and simplifies installation, with no recess or other adaption to the hull needed. For safety, the hatch can be opened from both the inside and the outside.
The opening lid has a 20 mm tinted acrylic with an inner frame and a solid silicone seal profile that is fixed into a milled grove in the glass. Frames, handles, and hinges are made of durable high-grade acid-proof stainless-steel.
A light composite locking bar prevents access from the outside when moored and falls off automatically if the boat capsizes. The hatch can be ordered with or without an inner frame in off-white ABS. The inner frame is also available separately, as well as a cut-out template in aluminum.
Like all our other products the Multihull Escape Hatch is developed and produced in our factory in Marstrand, Sweden. The hatch is CE-certified and approved according to the highest level (Area I) of ISO 12216 international standards for ocean sailing (Category A).
NOTE: This hatch should never be left open unattended. When under way, remove the locking bar and keep the hatch closed. Opening the hatch when sailing is strictly forbidden.
