Rutgerson Plain Bearing Blocks Relaunched under New Name

Swedish yacht equipment manufacturer Rutgerson is relaunching its popular plain bearing block range in composite under new name: The RAW Block.

“This is a strong reliable range of blocks without any extra fuzz, which makes RAW a good name”, says managing director Charlotte Rutgerson.

Rutgerson’s well-proven plain bearing blocks have sides made of a high-tech composite of such strength that no stainless steel reinforcement is needed. Consequently, overall weight of the block is reduced, and it has the best price on the market considering its strength.

The name RAW is replacing the previous name Biscay, which has proven difficult to relate to on some markets and has therefore hardly been used.
“Most people have simply called them Rutgerson Blocks, which worked fine when we only had one block range but has caused some confusion after introducing our new ROC Blocks with roller bearings.

Rutgerson is a world leading manufacturer of sail fittings and deck hardware. The company was founded by Swedish America’s Cup Sailor Göran Rutgerson in the mid 70’s. Today the family business is represented in more than 40 countries but all products are still made in the small coastal town of Marstrand on the Swedish west coast.
