Company background

Rutgerson Marin AB was founded in the beginning of the '70s by the innovator and sailing enthusiast Göran Rutgerson. His first innovation was the Super Ring, which even today, 30 years later, represents 60% of the world market. Previous to the Super Ring, the process of inserting rings was extremely arduous and inefficient as they had to be handsown onto the sails. The ring consists of two parts that are pressed together with a complementing tool. This product revolutionised the sail making industry when it came and it has become a market standard that many have tried to reach or outperform ever since.

Important mileposts:

1976 - Founding of Rutgerson Marin AB and introduction of the Super Ring.

1977 - Introduction of Sailhardware assortment

1980 - Introduction of Deckhardware assortment

1990 - Move to our current premises and introduction of Portlights and Hatches

1998 - Won DAME award at the Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam in the Deck equipment, Sails and Rigging-category with the Rutgerson Full-Batten System

1999 - Nominated for the DAME award in the Deck equipment, Sails and Rigging-category with the Rutgerson Composite Headboards

1999 - Nominated for the DAME award in the Deck equipment, Sails and Rigging-category with the Rutgerson Ropeclutch RC750

1999 - Won award "Company of the year in Kungälv"

2000 - Won DAME award in the Marine equipment, Sails and Rigging-category with the Rutgerson Full Batten receptacle 1590

2000 - Won DAME award in the Marine equipment, Sails and Rigging-category with the Rutgerson Ropeclutch 1500

2003 - Nominated for the DAME award in the Deck equipment, Sails and Rigging-category with the Rutgerson Stainless Steel Deckhatch
